Emirati artist Mohammed Kazem confirmed that there are many available opportunities for artists and creators in various fields of creativity. Artists can work and develop their talents through multiple institutions, whether inside their countries or outside them, and they can obtain grants to implement outstanding artistic works or participate in large artistic activities. Kazem called for artists in the country to take advantage of these opportunities to present an artistic experience related to the major support they enjoy.
In his talk to 'Emirates Today', Kazem expressed his happiness at being appointed to the role of visual arts commissioner for the 2024 edition of 'Art Abu Dhabi'. He explained that the collaboration began a year ago in designing the visual identity, where it relied on selecting works from his career that highlight the developments witnessed by the Emirates. The visual identity aims to enhance interaction with the audience and encourage them to visit the exhibition by raising questions around art and prompting them to think about its issues.
Kazem called for enhancing the artistic and visual culture among the audience and developing educational programs to include the arts and art history. He also pointed out the importance of translating artistic books and texts and publishing cultural artistic content in media outlets to support diversity and advance artistic culture. Kazem believes that experts and artistic exhibitions provide opportunities for both artists and the audience to view artistic works that represent artistic icons.
Kazem expresses his optimism about the new generation of Emirati artists and notes that the available opportunities contribute to the growth of the cultural and creative audience. He sees that technology aids artists in realizing their ideas and does not pose a threat to the arts. Despite the technological advancements, he maintains that the human element remains the significant influencing factor in creative work, and the basic concept is at the core of artistic work.
